    Description

The Myler 3-Ring Combination Bit with a Mullen Forward Tilt Low Ported Barrel (MB 36, Level 2-3) is a highly versatile hybrid bit that is ideal for horses with solid basic training. It features a noseband and chinstrap connected through the purchase and a choice of rein positions: a big ring for direct pressure or lower rings for a mild leverage effect. Using the lower rings causes the horse to feel rein pressure in the nose, chin, and poll before the mouthpiece, allowing the horse to respond to rein aids before mouthpiece pressure fully engages. The mullen mouthpiece has a low, wide, forward angled port that is designed to provide some tongue relief, while also applying greater tongue pressure, especially when the reins are engaged.

    Key Benefits

    • Level Up: Myler's unique "level" system means there's a bit for your horse no matter their training. Level 2-3 bits offer precise control through ported mouthpieces that relieve your horse's tongue, however, there will still be some degree of pressure for correction. Ideal for moderately experienced horses who show resistance to more restrictive bits.
    • The Basics: Stainless-steel 3-ring combination bit with 6" shanks. Sweet iron mouthpiece with copper inlay for salivation and a wide 1" port that is tilted forward 45º. Leather noseband with knotted cord and a chin strap made of synthetic material to avoid stretching over time. Available in three sizes.
    • 3-Ring Combination: Choose the big ring for direct pressure or the lower rings for a mild leverage effect. Mouthpiece can slide 1" before engaging. Noseband and chin strap are connected though the purchase, which swivels independently and is slightly angled to prevent rubbing.
    • Mullen Low Port with Forward Tilt (MB 36): Myler alternative to a traditional mullen. The low, wide port offers enough tongue relief for the horse to swallow, but is not high enough for palate pressure. The forward tilted angle applies some tongue pressure, especially when the reins are engaged. Curved shape applies pressure mainly on the bars and lips without pinching them.
    • Independent Swivel Cheek: The purchase of the cheek piece is able to move independently of the shank, preventing it from poking or rubbing the horse’s cheek when the reins are engaged.
    • Independent Side Movement: Entire shank moves independently from the mouthpiece which means more control and clearer communication between you and your horse.
